We meet again tata

We thought we had parted ways ...yet we meet again tata.

We looked on as the world shed tears, memories, experiences and mourned in unison. Not only humankind but the universe had a petal to accompany their memoirs as your soul rested.

In conversations with different acquaintances and friends over the past couple of months it is quite clear that unanimously citizens of South Africa are grappling with a political climax. This political juncture is a post-Madiba era where individuals are re-evaluating and seeking a unifying political agenda. An agenda that will address the needs of a golden boy locked in a glass chamber whilst peering over as his peers briskly wander off for different expeditions.

It's interesting when one listens to interviews where industry captains share their insights into their respective fields and impart their wisdom, they preach and plead for cohesion between the private sector and government - they never mention people, ordinary citizens. I bet you tata was an ordinary citizen until he found a cause that directed his life and changed a nation.

Notwithstanding all the troubles South Africa faces, her citizens are optimistic. The opportunities are interminable, it's up to each individual to take ownership of their lives and shape their future.

This post is also dedicated to a gorgeous woman who splits herself into many figures in my life (yes, she has super natural powers), she's my sister, my friend, my therapist and plays many other roles in my life.  I've known her from a very young age, she's seen me evolve over the years (for better or worse at times *little chuckle*) and I've drawn so much inspiration from her - all those who are close to her will share the same sentiments...she surely lights up our world with her contagious energy and her humble soul.

Nobuhle Dorcas Dlamini - Kimina uluphawu lokukhanya. Uyinkanyezi yekhethelo kulomhlaba. Love you always and congratulations!

At this year's highly acclaimed ASATA Diner's Club Awards Nobuhle was nominated for Tomorrow's Leader category and walked away a winner. Not that the latter was enough, from the 1st of April Nobuhle became the first black female director for Protea Hotels at the age of 30. Now this is what tata Mandela and his peers suffered for. This is how we should show appreciation to our liberation fathers in all corners of Africa - occupy and be active in boardrooms. With every milestone, we will once again meet Sankara, Yaa Asantewa, Haile Selassie, Nkrumah, Modibo Keita, Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, Lumumba, Queen Nzinga, Margaret Ekpo, Samora Machel, Biko, Hani, Tambo, Ruth First, Pixley ka Isaka Seme, Bambhatha and tatu Mandela, who will see that their dedication to our future was not in vein.

This post reminds me of Wilfred Peterson’s quote. Here's my rendition -
'We will walk with the dreamers, the believers, the courageous, the cheerful, the planners, the doers, successful people who have their heads in the clouds and their feet on the ground. We will let their spirits ignite a fire within us to leave this world better than when we found it.'

Afrika Rise.
